WAYNESBURG UNIVERSITY
CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT SERVES CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY
The Center for Research and Economic Development was designed to serve multiple functions for Waynesburg University. Since its completion, the Center has expanded the University’s Science Department with a high-tech forensics lab and provided other links to the local business community through the Murtha Center for Sustainable Economic Development.
The lab on the upper level of the building was designed to serve the needs of the University and the R.J. Lee Group, a firm that worked with the University in the Center’s development. R.J. Lee Group is provides opportunities to students to develop ‘hands-on’ experience with modern forensics instrumentation.
The Center also provides other modern resources to local Greene County businesses on the street level of the building in an incubator environment. Offices, meeting rooms, and business equipment, along with the assistance of the University’s faculty and students are offered to start-up and other local businesses. The design included ‘smart’ classrooms and conference spaces that are used by the University and local businesses. (back)
