POLLOCK HALL IS LATEST SUCCESS IN
RESIDENCE HALL BUILDING PROGRAM
AT WAYNESBURG UNIVERSITY
Waynesburg University started the fall 2005 semester with a new residence hall building, the fourth new residence hall facility added to the campus in three years. Pollock Hall, as well as the previous three-building complex, was designed by Valentour English Bodnar & Howell, Registered Architects and is providing modern campus housing for 68 students.
The design for Pollock Hall produces a similar blend of personal and common living spaces for is student residents that was designed into the residence halls complex opened in 2003. It combines selected ‘apartment-style’ components with traditional campus housing elements that have proven to be very popular with students.
With amenities such as carpeting, wide corridors, a lounge area on each floor, and air conditioning, the construction cost of Pollock Hall still compares very favorably to residence hall construction on other campuses. The ‘cost per square foot’ and ‘cost per student’ figures are below the average costs of residence hall construction in data compiled for a recent Annual Construction Report of a national publication.
Waynesburg University is located 90 minutes south of Pittsburgh in Waynesburg, PA. The construction of new residence hall facilities has met the needs of a growing student population and has served to attracted potential students to the University and upper-classmen back to on-campus living.
